TAF STEM Summer 2024, Nasarawa state, Nigeria

The summer of 2024 was a memorable one for Teen Ambassadors Foundation and the beneficiaries of the STEM Education program. In light of the technological age we live in and the advantages it offers, this program aimed to equip teens with the essential knowledge needed to succeed.

Each student was provided with a computer running on the Linux (Raspbian) distribution, pre-installed with the necessary software for the training. These included a Python interpreter, Scratch, and all the lessons for the program.

The training sessions lasted for two weeks, running daily from 9 AM to 4 PM, to cover the extensive material and allow time for students to practice. A total of three sessions were conducted, training 40 participants. A key part of the curriculum involved students engaging in critical and analytical thinking to solve scientific problems, using trial and error to approach technical challenges, and applying engineering and mathematical concepts in a computational context.

The importance and impact of artificial intelligence and robotics cannot be overstated in today's world, and Teen Ambassadors Foundation incorporated these as major highlights in the training. This exposure aimed to encourage beneficiaries to use these technologies to solve societal problems, having acquired the necessary skills.

The training sessions were thoroughly documented and recorded for future reference, both for the students and other learners interested in accessing the content on our YouTube channel.

Before concluding the program, students were taken on an excursion to Amal Technologies Limited, where they observed the manufacturing of electrical components at the plant in Abuja. They were shown different sections of the plant, including the electrical and mechanical departments, and the surface-mounting train. The program closed in style, with dignitaries and guests in attendance to witness the awarding of certificates to the trainees.

The skills acquired by the students will inspire them to contribute positively to the growth and development of the country and the world at large.
